What kind of glass can be recycled in Jefferson City?
Glass does not have to be sorted and labels do not have to be removed.
Pyrex, ceramic, window glass, and TV's cannot be accepted.

Where does the glass go?
Glass to be recycled is consolidated at a city facility and then sent via tractor trailer to Ripple Glass in Kansas City, MO. Upon arriving at Ripple, glass is cleaned, sorted and crushed into cullet. The cleaned cullet is then made into insulation or new glass bottles.
Communities that participate in glass recycling with Ripple Glass receive an insulation donation at the end of each year to be used as they wish. River City Habitat for Humanity has been the recipient of these donations for 3 years.
Newspapers, Magazines and Corrugated Cardboard
ATTENTION: Effective June 15, 2018, the plastic, newspaper & cardboard white recycling bins will be removed from the following locations:
- McKay Park
- Memorial Park
- Fire Station # 1, 621 W High St
- Fire Station # 2, 2400 E McCarty St
- Fire Station # 5, 1005 Fairgrounds
- City Hall (East Parking Lot), 320 E McCarty St
Alternative recycling opportunities include:
City Residents can use Single Stream recycling carts (grey top lid) for plastic, aluminum, paper, & cardboard.
Commercial recycling available through Republic Services 635-8805.
New World Recycling located at 2007 Idlewood Rd., 635-0331, accepts plastic, aluminum, tin, paper, cardboard & more.
Federal Recycling located 2730 W Main St, 636-5828, accepts plastic, aluminum, tin, paper, cardboard & more.
Commercial Recycling Opportunities
Republic Services is the autorized City provider for on-site recycling services within the city limits.
Republic offers options for long tube fluorescent kits, compact bulb kids, and battery kits for convenient on site recycling. Click here for kit information.

Recycling in Downtown Jefferson City is in full swing! There are 8 of these containers placed on E. High Street between Adams and Jefferson and 1 on the Madison Street by the parking garage.
These containers accept aluminum cans and plastic bottles from visitors to our beautiful downtown!
