Baton and Stick Self Defense is based on the Filipino and Indonesian martial arts. Known as SinaTirsiaWali Kali, this method of self defense works on techniques that are the same whether you are holding a stick or are empty handed. Block and strikes are one and the same. Proper footwork and body mechanics are emphasized, enabling people of small stature to defend against a larger person. Minimum age is twelve years of age. Younger students can participate under the discretion of the instructor. Classes are held on Tuesday evenings from 7:30 pm to 8:30 pm at the Turkey Creek Room in North Jefferson Multipurpose Building.
