Music, Words, Opera is an intensive, two week adventure into the world of New Music for 8th graders through 19 year olds. Do you want to write a Rock Opera? Or participate in a New Music Ensemble? Or explore Contemporary musical styles? Or experience Modern Musical Theater? If so, this is the summer camp for you!

Participants will write original music and music dramas based on movies or books. It begins with an intensive week of classes where students choose from the following: Music for Theater and Film, Song Writing, Instrumental Composition, Orchestration and Arranging, Midi Interface and Finale Notation Software, Improvisation and Lab Band/Orchestra. Week one will be devoted to the composition of a New Music Drama and week two will be rehearsal and performance of the New Music Drama.

Students need to bring a sack lunch that needs neither heating or cooling each day. Each student will receive two to four complimentary tickets for family and friends to attend the Open House show.
