Rules Cheat Sheet

The Department of Parks and Recreation offers youth baseball leagues for boys in grade 3, 4, 5, and 6-8.  All participants must register by 5 p.m., March 30 according to the grade they will be entering in the fall of 2018. After 5 p.m., March 30, players are not guaranteed placement on a team.

Teams are formed by school for grades 3 - 5, and through a "drafting" system for grades 6 - 8. Coaches will contact their players after teams are formed. Some teams in the 3rd - 5th grade leagues may be formed from more than one school if there are not enough kids from one school to form a team. Conversely, some schools may have enough kids to make more than one team. Once teams are selected, players will not be switched from one team to another for any reason. Players not contacted by May 4 should call the Parks and Recreation office at (573) 634-6482.

Buddy Request: If you want to ensure that your child is on the same team as her friend or sibling please make sure the two kids "buddy" each other on their registration forms. The buddy request will only be honored if both parties "buddy" the other.

Uniforms and Equipment:  Players must furnish their own glove, pants, socks, and shoes.  Players are also encouraged to provide their own batting helmet, if possible. Metal spikes are not permitted.
League Fee includes a league shirt and hat (approx. $20 value). Shirts will be a unisex "dry-fit" type t-shirt.

Coaching:
Each team needs a head coach and can have up to 2 assistant coaches. If you are interested in coaching a team, please fill out the appropriate volunteer application. Head coaches also need to fill out the background check authorization form that the Program Manager will provide. Click on "Sign up to Coach" at the top left side of this page for those forms. There will be a training and rules meeting, and each head coach must complete an NAYS clinic online

Everyone Plays: Continuous batting order and unlimited substitutions are used in all leagues for any player who has been to practice and has not been a discipline problem. No participant will sit out more than two innings defensively in any game. Rules mandating infield playing time are used in pitching machine leagues only.
