Disaster Recovery Programs

In 2019, Cole County, including Jefferson City was hit by an EF-3 tornado. Also, in 2019, Holt County and St. Charles County experienced major flooding events. These  2 natural disasters, lead to Governor Parson requesting a presidentially declared disaster. President Trump issued a Presidentially Declared Disaster (DR-4451). The high number of FEMA Individual Assistance Claims lead to the State of Missouri's Action Plan 2019 DR-4451 Disaster Recovery.

The Missouri Department of Economic Development has allocated $7,059,300 to Cole County for disaster recovery efforts from the 2019 tornado.  Activities that may be undertaken include: Acquisition for Demolition Only, Construction of New Affordable Housing (for Homeownership), Affordable Multifamily Rental Housing (New Construction or Repair/Rehabilitation), Down-payment Assistance, Homeowner Rehabilitation, Infrastructure to Support Housing Recovery Efforts, and Housing Incentive for Replacement Assistance.
