According to
Chapter 30 of the Code city-wide trash service is required. Trash service must be maintained by the owner or possessor of any occupied residence, duplex, or multifamily dwelling or other building operated or used for a residential, commercial or industrial use. Services must be performed by an authorized collector.
Beginning June 1, 2016, the City entered into
solid waste contract with Republic Services as the sole authorized provider for waste collection and disposal and residential curbside single stream recycling within the City of Jefferson. Contact Republic for all of your solid waste needs.

Residential Trash Services
The City of Jefferson contracts with Republic Services for City-wide trash service and curbside single-stream recycling. All occupied single-family residential homes (3 units or less) are included in the City-Wide trash and recycling services. Single-Stream recycling is voluntary and available at no additional cost. Trash and recycling are picked up once per week on your designated day.

A limited number of small 35 gallon carts are available for elderly and disabled customers. These carts can be requested by completing the Small Cart Request Form and submitting it to Republic Services.

Renter Information - Who is Responsible for Obtaining Trash Service?
The following information is according to Code Chapter 30, Solid Wastes.
Rental of Single Family Residence or Duplex
Through a signed agreement, such as a lease, the landlord may assign responsibility of obtaining trash service to the tenant. Check with your landlord if you have any questions.
Rental of a Unit in a Triplex or Multifamily Complex
The owner is the responsible party for obtaining trash is the owner of residential building. Check with your landlord or property manager if you have any questions.

NEW YEARS DAY – Sunday, January 1, 2023
Your pickup will remain the same. The holiday does not impact your service schedule.
MEMORIAL DAY – Monday, May 29, 2023
Routes will run on May 29. There will be no delays.
INDEPENDENCE DAY – Tuesday, July 4, 2023
Routes will run on July 4. There will be no delays
LABOR DAY – Monday, SEPTEMBER 4, 2023
Routes will run as usual on Labor Day. There will be no delays.
THANKSGIVING DAY – Thursday, November 23, 2023
Pickups on Thursday and Friday will be delayed one day due to the holiday.

All pickups will be delayed by one day due to the holiday.

Temporary-Seasonal Stop Guidelines
The City of Jefferson solid waste code requires that every occupied dwelling obtain and maintain trash service inside the city limits. To accommodate the seasonal schedules of customers, Republic Services has adopted guidelines on temporary services:
Customers may suspend service for periods of three (3) months at a time (maximium of 2 times during a one (1) year period). There is a stop/restart service fee of $25.00 which includes stopping & restarting the service, removing and re-delivering the carts.
Republic Services will do the best to accommodate and work around seasonality schedules. This guideline provides reasonable and an economical alternative to those who are away for extended periods. Repeated starting and stopping of service would pose a hardship and be extremely labor intensive.
