Yard Waste

Yard Waste-Open Burning Season
The yard waste open burning season runs from November 1 through March 1 each year and is regulated by certain daylight and weather condition restrictions.

The Fire Department may issue a "No Burn" order at any time during that period if they deem conditions hazardous. This law is found in Chapter 13 of the City Code. If you have more questions after reading the Code, call the Jefferson City Fire Department at (573) 634-6401. The burning of anything other than yard waste is prohibited.

The City of Jefferson contracts (Yard Waste Contract) with All Seasons Lawn Care to operate a local compost facility.  Residents within the city limits may take trimmings and yard waste originating from their personal property to the facility at no cost.  Must be able to present a photo ID with current address in order to take advantage of the no cost aspect.

City residents may also take advantage of a service called Yard Waste Curbside on Demand.  All Season’s Landscaping is providing a yard waste curbside on demand option for city residents who want to have their yard waste picked up at the curb at their residents.  Residents will need to purchase  30 gallon paper compostable yard waste bags (available at local retail stores) to utilize the service.  Cost of the service is $50.00 for basic pick-up  which includes two (2)-30 gallon paper compostable bags.  Each additional  30 gallon compostable yard waste bag is $2.00 each.  All yard waste must meet the acceptable yard waste criteria  and must fit in the bag.  Any unacceptable waste will not be taken by the contractor (see list below for acceptable and unacceptable yard waste).   Residents can contact All Season Landscaping at 573-893-4257 to make arrangements for payment and pick-up of the yard waste.
