Neighborhood Improvement - CDBG

One of the programs the City offers through the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) is Neighborhood Improvement. The purpose of this demolition program is to eliminate structures posing an imminent threat to the health and safety of the community. CDBG funds are available for demolition in exchange for non-profit organizations constructing new low-moderate income housing.

1206 E High was an abandoned structure and acquired by River City Habitat for Humanity. Utilizing CDBG funds, the City demolished the structure and Habitat was able to construct a new, single family home on the site. Additional investment of sidewalks and retaining walls also improved the site through the joint City/County E High Street Capital Improvements project. A Jefferson City family is now the proud owners of 1206 E High and were able to move in earlier this year.
