Jacob Baker Recognized 

Jacob Baker, deputy head of school at River Oak Christian Academy, was recognized at City Council for being named 1 of 12 Christian Teachers of the Year in a nationwide recognition program.

Capital Arts Sketch Day - Mayor's Choice

Capital Arts Sketch Day has been a tradition in Jefferson City since 1948. Jefferson City high school students spend the day around town drawing and painting scenic areas of Jefferson City.

The 2024 winner of the Mayor's Choice award for the Capital Arts Sketch Day is Joey Ahmed from Jefferson City High School.


Joey's piece was the Supreme Court of Missouri building. Congrats to Joey and to all of the artists on their impressive submissions for Capital Arts Sketch Day!

Healing House and New Beginnings
The Healing House and New Beginnings presented and were recognized with a proclamation at the City Council meeting.

The Healing House and New Beginnings equips and empowers women who have experienced life struggles by rebuilding their lives through a program of action that focuses on recovery, spiritual growth, housing and life skills. 

They opened their first house in 2015 and welcomed 7 women into their home, and as of early 2024, a fourth home opened and serves 30 women and 6 children from our community.
