DED Awards $2.1 million for MSP Community Revitalization

The Missouri Department of Economic Development (DED) will invest $2,113,169 in ARPA Community Revitalization funds to the MSP Redevelopment Project. The project represents a tremendous opportunity to invest in Qualified Census Tract 207 by blending the rich and unique history of the site with the redevelopment of 23 acres that will bring investment to a strategically monitored neighborhood. This funding will provide:

1.  Asbestos abatement and demolition of Housing Unit 5, Saddletree Factory, corridor between Housing Unit 1 and Housing Unit 5, and the wall (sections yet to be determined);
2.  New wall/fencing to secure structures within the historic quadrangle;
3.  Strategic rehabilitation/stabilization of remaining prison corridor; and
4.  Connection points to the neighborhood (sidewalks, streetlights, etc.)
    


EDA Awards $1.5 million for MSP Redevelopment


The Economic Development Administration (EDA) will invest $1,500,000 to support the City of Jefferson with infrastructure projects at the Missouri State Penitentiary (MSP) Redevelopment Site. Once completed, the investment will create sites for new businesses, spur job creation, and advance economic resiliency throughout the region. This project will create 67 jobs and will leverage $27.8 million in private investment.
