This class will provide you with information and riding experience that will help you become comfortable riding on City streets. This will take place through classroom discussion, bike handling skills, and riding on city streets with the guidance of a certified cycling instructor. Class size is limited and pre-registration is required. This class will be held Saturday, March 23, from 9:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. and on Sunday, March 30, from 1:00 P.M. to 3:00 P.M. and Saturday, May 4, from 9:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. Participants will need to bring their own bike and bike helmet.

For those who may have missed out on learning to ride a bike when younger and would like to give it a try. The class will step you through the process of riding a bike beginning with “gliding” and moving to coasting and then to riding. The class will be led by a certified cycling instructor who will also be giving instruction on bike safety, fitting your helmet, and discussions of clothing and equipment. Join a licensed cycling instructor from the League of American Bicyclists for a review of bicycles, equipment and accessories, riding styles and options, and local cycling opportunities. The session will also cover basic bicycle fitting, service and maintenance, street and trail riding, and organized and solo riding. It is not necessary to bring a bike to this session. Have you thought about cycling to work but would like some help in figuring out the best route or would like a companion to ride with you for encouragement and to help build your confidence?
Signing up for this service will pair you with a certified cycling instructor who will help plan your route and at a mutually agreeable day will meet you at your home and ride with you on your commute to work. This service is available for those within a radius of approximately 10 miles from Downtown. The instructor will also provide instruction on safe road riding and clothing/equipment.
