Jefferson City Parks and Recreation is offering a non-competitive baseball league for Jefferson City area school aged kids with physical and developmental disabilities or other conditions that keep them from participating in regular baseball leagues. Every child bats and fields in each inning and a "baseball buddy" will be available to help him/her. Game rules are flexible so that every child will have the chance to play in an athletic environment structured to each child’s ability. The league is designed to help every child, regardless of ability, be successful and have fun!
Parent/Guardian Involvement
Because of the special needs of many of our participants, we require that a parent, guardian or responsible adult remain in attendance with participant. While you are not expected to assist with running the program, you might be needed to assist with possible medical or behavioral issues.
Volunteers Needed
The success of the program is dependent upon a large number of volunteers to help out. Baseball buddies can be individuals or whole groups in the Jefferson City area. Volunteering consists of helping a child during game play; catching, throwing, batting and running.
