2015 Solid Waste Proposals

The City of Jefferson solicited Requests for Proposals for solid waste services in May 2015. Proposals were received from two companies, Republic Services and Waste Corporation of America (WCA). The Staff Evaluation Committee negotiated reduced rates based on a 10-Year contract period. The Staff Evaluation Committee recommendation to the Mayor and City Council is in favor of an Exclusive Contract with Republic Services for a 10-Year Contract Period. This differs from the Initial Proposals received, in that the rates quoted in those respective proposals were for 5-Year contract periods. The recommendation of the Staff Evaluation Committee was released in a report dated November 9, 2015, entitled Staff Recommendation on Solid Waste. The Mayor and City Council now have these recommendations under consideration. The current contract with the current solid waste provider, Republic Services, expires May 31, 2016. No changes will be effective until approved by the Mayor and City Council.
