Yard Waste Update; Burn Season Ends

Beginning at sunset on March 1, Jefferson City yard waste burning season draws to a close. Residents are advised that yard waste burning will no longer be permitted in accordance with local regulations and may result in a citation and fine.

Throughout the burning season, the Jefferson City Fire Department has been committed to the safety and well-being of our community by providing guidance on responsible burning practices. While recognizing the importance of implementing yard waste burning season during the February 29 meeting, the Public Safety Committee declined to extend the burn season and directed staff to improve and re-open the temporary yard waste site located at 708 Ellis Boulevard.

The City Council will consider a resolution from the Public Works Department at its meeting on Monday, March 4. If approved, Public Works will begin to work on the site to be offered to the public for yard waste disposal with the goal completion no later than April 1.

Additional information regarding the temporary site will be provided following City Council’s decision on Monday, March 4.
